I like the movie....Oh shut the hell up Nina that movie sucks
Well lately in our household movies have been the topic of discussion. Michael came home from work yesterday telling me about his friend Carl. Apparently they had engaged in a conversation about movies. Now that was mistake number one. First of all, you should never get involved in a debate over movies with Michael. He thinks he is the ultimate when discerning the quality of a movie. Now don't get me wrong, he usually does have good taste in this area. Michael pretty much hates everything, but he loves movies. He gets all heated up when someone insults one of his favorite movies. You would think someone spit on him. When he's talking about it, the conversation just keeps getting louder and louder.
TIP #1 Beware of full on, live movie debate with Michael.
TIP #2 Don't release any personal movie favorites to him.
TIP #3 If all else fails, nod.
Tip #4 If nodding fails start holding your stomach and excuse yourself to the restroom.
In truth he's not that bad. We actually like a lot of the same movies. There are a few we clash on. I still have a thing for John Hughes movies, but other than that I really don't like chick flicks. I like movies that make you think. Michael and I watched Pi. He absolutely loved it. I said I thought that it was pointless and depressing. I never said it wasn't an interesting idea. To hear him tell it though I fucking hated it. My point being everything is so black and white with him. I am very grey. So unless your ready to defend your reasons for liking a particular movie and have examples sited from the movie do not get into a discussion with Michael about movies.
There. You are all forewarned.
Oh yeah, Carl is a dork with bad taste in movies.
