Is print dead?

I like to read on occasion. It's hard to find books that really interest me though. Michael is very articulate and I assumed it came from reading a lot. I assumed wrong. I was reading something one day and he looked at me and exclaimed, "Print is dead." How can print be dead? I mean even though there is a plethora of information available via the internet, books are still needed. You can't curl up in bed with you laptop very comfortably. I don't think I would have the same impressions of classic literature if I would of read it on the computer. Surely professors and teachers alike recommend using several mediums for works cited pages. I do agree that the popularity of books has definitely decreased, but dead?

I tried to contemplate how this could be. My conclusion is that most books are on subjects people have no desire to read about. The last time I was at the book store I saw huge sections on health, exercise, cooking, and self-help. Yes, these are books, but no they don't require a good attention span to read. Someone who regularly reads these books would probably have books on tape. They would probably wonder why anyone would take the time to read something like The Grapes of Wrath. This may seem harsh, but really how many people buy books that aren't recommended by Oprah? This is really frustrating me. When did we become such puppets? Who stopped asking why, followed by state your source? Does everybody just believe what they are told?

Sorry...getting on a rant that's off the topic.

Most of the blogs I have seen list a few books, but they are all the same. It's like people listed them to say, "Look at me, I'm smart. See, I read." Look if you choose not to read that's your prerogative, but don't make shit up just look a certain way.

The last book I read was at the art show. Michael had remembered me mentioning it to him. He purchased on his way home from a business trip. It was an excellent book full of history an interesting commentary. It wasn't exactly what I imagined, it was better. So if you have an open mind I recommend Mary Roach's, Stiff, The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers.

Someone please tell me if print is really dead? It just can't be.
