Lame ass weekend...
My lame ass weekend consisted of several movies, a drunk Sam, and about 30 Mexicans. The Mexicans were the highlight...
Movies watched:
Paths of Glory: A Kubrick film. I was really impressed by Kirk Douglas's performance. I don't have any sort of fondness toward the Douglases. Actually I have a little disdain for them. Anyway, it was an interesting film. I don't think I would recommend it really, unless you're a die hard Kubrick film lover or you like older movies. One thumb up.
Roger and Me: Michael Moore's first major film to grab some attention. The story of how GM screwed his hometown of Flint, MI. One thumb. Again, I wouldn't really pick this unless you love documentaries or Michael Moore. He reminds me of old style Ralph Nader in this one.
The Station Agent: A bizarre movie. Of course that means I loved it. I give it one thumb and a half. The story of an anti-social, train loving dwarf and the fucked up people that live around him. It's a great movie. Something definitely different. Have an open mind when you watch this one.
Red Dragon: One thumb and a fourth. The fourth is because I love Edward Norton and Anthony Hopkins (in this role). This one is my least favorite in the series. Excellent acting and a chilling story. I wish we had watched them all in a row.
On Saturday we were invited to our neighbor's house for Luceroito's 5th Birthday party. She loves princesses and polly pocket. After much agonizing we decided to get her little figurines of all of the princesses and a travel princess coloring book and crayon set. We arrived with the idea of stay for only a half hour or so. Well, that didn't happen. Their family is so incredible. Before we knew it several hours had passed by. We kept trying to leave, but we couldn't. Sara, the grandmother made the most kick ass salsa. She was feeding us like we hadn't eaten in years. She kept telling us what good people we were, and that she wanted us to come over to her house this summer with the family.
The first time we went over to Rick and Lucero's I was a little nervous. I mean we were the only white people. Now days, I'm used to it. I kind of wear it like a badge of honor. I mean here is this family celebrating family things, yet they feel we should attend all of the family functions. So I'm kind of proud that we are the only non-family members invited and the only white people.
In any case we were there all night long. We watched movies, ate, chatted, and played with the kids. The only time we left was to go check on Sam...
When I did go check on Sam he was in the backyard. He was drunk and crying. He lied to us earlier that morning. He had been drinking. It was a big ordeal. He's not addicted to the drink, he's depressed. Cheering him up and shoving him back on the wagon took a lot out of me.
My back was killing me all weekend, so I was pretty immobile most of the weekend. That really sucked ass. Well....that's about it in a nutshell.
