Thanksgiving wrap up and play by play...

Well, I lied about updating you guys as the festivities began. Sorry for that. It suddenly occurred to me that I didn't really want any of Michael's family knowing we had blogs. I don't think they could handle some of the stuff we write about. Anyway....

Thanksgiving day Michael and I got up bright and early and got ready. Not ten minutes after we were ready did Pam (Michael's younger sister) show up. We visited with her for a few minutes and then Brian (Michael's older brother) showed up with his wife and our three nieces. Chaos ensued and then we went over to his grandma's house. The entire family tries to meet up there in her little carpeted basement. It sounds kind of hokey, but it's really kind of cool. I don't know many people who really keep in touch with their cousins, second cousins, and all of the non-family dates. In any case, we had a really nice time. It was good to visit, even though I spent most of the time playing electronic battleship with all the kids.

When I grew up we used to go to my great aunt June's house. There are certain food items that I associate with Thanksgiving, thanks to her. It never occurred to me that people of the same ethnicity as me would have such varied Thanksgiving dishes. There were some strange dishes at Michael's grandmothers. They included; dumplings, cheese corn casserole, potato cheese casserole, broccoli cheese rice casserole, and the dressing was all smoothed out like a cake. It was weird. All in all I would say it was a pleasant experience even though their were some oddities.

After dinner we headed back to Michael's moms and everyone opened the gifts I bought. I bought each one of Michael's family a web cam. I was hoping this would keep us in contact with our nieces, so we aren't always remembered by the gifts we send. I also thought this might help to stifle the nagging about moving back to Indiana. I bought his mom an ornament and a hand carved crucifix. His sister asked to have whatever money I would of spent on her in truffles. So she got that and the web cam. I bought her boyfriend(Ryan), two playstation games. I missed him though because he wasn't there. They might as well be married, they've been together forever. I bought the nieces a lot of stuff. It was almost like I had imagined a family should be.

It was a good time, enough said.

The trip home was hardly a good time. It was fucking cold an miserable. We had a three and a half hour delay at the Detroit airport. We finally pushed back out of the gate (A75) when the pilot announced that one of the engines had cracked. Thankfully they had a spare plane we could use. We all deplaned and headed to the new gate (A2), go figure. It was a long (4 hours) flight, but I managed to keep myself amused. This huge smelly obese guy had sat next to Michael. I was thoroughly enjoying watching Michael squirm. We landed safely and thus ends the Thanksgiving play by play.

Happy Holidays!:)
